Named Best Pacifier for Breastfed Babies by Moogco

Moogco Baby named the Soothe Beginnings Pacifier Starter Kit its top pick in its 2026 guide to the best pacifiers for breastfed babies. Their editor called it "our current top recommendation for breastfed babies."

I started Soothe Beginnings after my own baby rejected pacifier after pacifier. Later I became a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor, and the question I kept hearing from nursing moms was the same one I had: which pacifier will my baby actually take without messing with our latch? Seeing a breastfeeding-focused guide land on the same answer means a lot.

Who Is Moogco Baby?

Moogco Baby is a baby shop and parenting journal best known for its silver nursing cups, and its guides are written for breastfeeding moms. The 2026 pacifier guide was edited by Eda Ulger, Moogco Baby's editor and a mom of two. In the spirit of full transparency: Moogco also carries Soothe Beginnings in its shop, one of VERY MANY pacifiers they offer. It's a huge honor.

Why Moogco Picked Soothe Beginnings for Breastfed Babies

Here's what the guide pointed to:

  • A nipple shaped for nursing. The Nursing shape is wider and deeper than a typical pacifier nipple, so your baby uses the same active latch they use at the breast. More on that in the best pacifier for breastfed babies.
  • Three shapes in one kit. Every starter kit comes with Nursing, Standard, and Orthodontic nipples. If your baby spits one out, you swap the nipple instead of buying another pacifier.
  • You replace the nipple, not the pacifier. Replacement nipples swap in every 6 to 8 weeks, or you can set up a nipple subscription and stop thinking about it.
  • Materials you don't have to second-guess. Soft medical-grade silicone nipples that are BPA, PFAS, and phthalate free, batch-tested, and made in the USA. No hidden pocket for mold and no gaps for little fingers to get stuck in.
  • Two price points. The guide covers both kits and suggests starting with Flex if you're not sure your baby will take a pacifier at all.

What a Breastfed Baby Needs From a Pacifier

A pacifier for a breastfed baby should encourage a wide, deep latch, not a shallow, straw-like suck. The quickest way to check a shape at home is the triangle test. Both the Standard and Nursing shapes passed on video with Kaylee Rabaja, RN, IBCLC, the lactation consultant behind the test. Watch her video here.

When to Introduce a Pacifier to a Breastfed Baby

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends offering a pacifier at naps and bedtime because it's linked to a lower risk of SIDS, and suggests waiting until breastfeeding is well established for breastfed babies. A Cochrane review found that pacifier use in healthy, full-term breastfed babies didn't significantly change how long they breastfed.

What "well established" looks like is different for every family. For us, a pacifier on day one was what kept us sane with that non-latching baby. Talk with your lactation professional about what fits your baby.

Which Kit Should You Start With?

Still deciding? Here's how Flex compares to the original kit, and how many pacifiers you actually need.

Thank you, Moogco Baby, for putting the work in for breastfeeding families.
